Stylo G is out and bad

No Rating

Every successful artiste has a song in their career that was a game changer, that catapulted their career to new heights. A song that was a bit more than just a hit, but instead a defining moment. For Michael Jackson that song was ‘Thriller’. For Shaggy that song was ‘It Wasn’t Me’ and more recently, for Stylo G that song was ‘Dumpling’. Almost instantaneously ‘Dumpling’ shot to the number 1 spot on the iTunes reggae singles charts. ‘Dumpling’ was such a recognizable hit that even Spice and Sean Paul decided to jump on the remix, catapulting the single to third place on the Billboard Reggae Songs charts, behind Shaggy and Rik Rok’s ‘It Wasn’t Me’ and Bob Marley and The Wailer’s ‘Three Little Birds’ at the top spot.

The 34-year-old, UK- based dancehall artiste, Stylo G, whose given name is Jason McDermott, son of legendary dancehall artist Poison Chang, is already known throughout the Caribbean and UK for hit songs such as ‘My Yout’, ‘Call Mi a Leader’ and ‘Soundbwoy’, which peaked at number 18 on the UK Singles Chart.

After a tumultuous 2019, which involved a police raid on his AirBnB apartment in Jamaica under false suspicions of carrying armed weapons, Stylo G was not fazed. He was too focused on creativity to feed into any negative energy that surrounded him. Having a slew of songs in his catalogue ready for release, he knew one way or another he was about to cleaned up and that exactly what he did shortly after with the release of ‘Dumpling’. Just about every party this winter had ‘Dumpling’ on their playlist and it may just be the summer hit song for 2020.
